បន្តិចទៀតនេះ ហ៊ុន សែន នឹងប្រើតុលាការ និង គ.ជ.ប. ក្រោមបញ្ជាគាត់ ឲ្យរារាំង រ៉ុង ឈុន មិនឲ្យឈរឈ្មោះជាបេក្ខជនតំណាងរាស្ត្រ។ ហ៊ុន សែន ខ្លាច រ៉ុង ឈុន ដែលនឹងឈរឈ្មោះ នៅខេត្តកណ្តាលដូចគាត់ ហើយដែលមានប្រជាប្រិយភាព ខ្ពស់ជាងគាត់ឆ្ងាយណាស់ ជាពិសេសក្នុងចំណោមកម្មករ មន្ត្រីរាជការ និងគ្រូបង្រៀន។
រ៉ុង ឈុន ធ្លាប់ធ្វើជាប្រធានសហព័ន្ធសហជីពកម្ពុជា ហើយបានចេញមុខការពារបូរណភាពទឹកដីប្រទេសកម្ពុជា។ គាត់ត្រូវបានតុលាការអាយ៉ង របស់ ហ៊ុន សែន តម្រូវឲ្យគាត់ជាប់ពន្ធនាគារ ១៥ ខែ គឺពីខែកក្កដា ឆ្នាំ២០២០ ដល់ខែវិច្ឆិកា ឆ្នាំ ២០២១។
ហ៊ុន សែន នឹងយកលេសថា រ៉ុង ឈុន ជាទណ្ឌិត ដែលមិនទាន់បានទទួលនីតិសម្បទាពេញលេញនៅឡើយ ដូច្នេះ មិនអាចឈរឈ្មោះ ជាបេក្ខជនតំណាងរាស្ត្របានទេ។ ទោះជាយ៉ាងណាក៏ដោយ ទាំងប្រជារាស្ត្រខ្មែរ ទាំងសហគមន៍អន្តរជាតិ មិនអាចទទួលយក លេសរបស់ ហ៊ុន សែន នេះ បានទេ ពីព្រោះវាគ្រាន់តែជាល្បិចមួយដ៏ថោកទាប តាមតែ ហ៊ុន សែន សម្រេចដើម្បីចៀសវាងការប្រកួតប្រជែង ដោយចំហ សេរី និងយុត្តិធម៌។
យោងប្រជាប្រិយភាពរបស់គាត់ រ៉ុង ឈុន អាចជាបេក្ខជននាយករដ្ឋមន្ត្រី តំណាងឲ្យកម្លាំងប្រជាធិបតេយ្យ ដែលប្រឆាំងរបបផ្តាច់ការ ហ៊ុន សែន។
(*) Hun Sen is preparing a pretext to prevent Rong Chhun from being a candidate at the 23 July 2023 national election.
The pretext, which will be announced shortly on Hun Sen's order by a subservient court and/or electoral commission, is that Rong Chhun is "a convict who has not been fully rehabilitated yet."
But the real reason for Hun Sen to try to eliminate Rong Chhun from the electoral competition is the fact that the latter is more popular than the former. Like Hun Sen, Rong Chhun stands as a National Assembly candidate for Kandal province and he could be the Candlelight Party candidate for prime minister.
Having been a long-time union leader until he joined the Candlelight Party last January, Rong Chhun is very popular among factory workers, civil servants and teachers. He was jailed for 15 months in 2020-2021 on trumped-up charges.
